Introducing the boy to the movie. He liked it. It holds up well.

Yes! Glad to see you’re giving the youngster a classical education.
Did you know the role of Centauri was written specifically for Robert Preston because of his performance as the con man in The Music Man? I think it was his last role.

We watched the making of after the film and they mentioned that. They were all pretty good.

My boys (8 and 5) loved it when we watched it. One issue: they just didn't understand the concept of an arcade video game.

We have one in the entryway to our house. Yeah, we are kind of odd, but our kids know what one is.
My 9 year old loved it, especially when they launched the ship for the first time. I had forgotten about the younger brother swearing and his Playboy collection.

Fantastic taste! Have you ever seen this - remarkably well-done - fan-made trailer? I’m generally not one for reboots, but at the very least, it made me yearn for a spiritual successor.

I just picked up the 25th Anniversary addition. I haven’t watched it since I was a kid, so I’m pumped!

That is the the version we picked up, I think. The movie holds up pretty well. You just have to take it for what it is.

I’m a bit surprised that they haven’t done anything with the idea. I guess you could kind of call Ender’s Game something in the same arena, but it wasn't as fun.

Yeah, The Last Starfighter needs a certain sense of retro fun to work, I think. Hell, if I were making it, I’d probably still try to have the plot involve an arcade cabinet, rather than the obvious modern equivalent.

Yeah, they could do some great stuff with it now. For instance, they could tie it in with the game Elite Dangerous or something. That would be, to use the technical term, kick ass!

That would work. We've already watched Explorers and Gooneys.
